Medical Hiccup

Today's entry does not contain any information about the house-building project. However, we wanted to share a delay in getting some things accomplished.

Dave has had trouble breathing for a few weeks and he finally consented to visit the doctor. To make a very long story short, he was admitted to the hospital for 8 days and 7 night with blood clots in his leg, groin, and both lungs. He is doing well and will be on anti-blood-clotting medication for a few months. It will take approximately 6 months for his body to reabsorb the clots. In the meantime, he's obeying doctor's orders (including Dr. Pam's orders).

He is able to resume his semi-normal activities (nothing strenuous) as long as he stops when he's tired. He visits the doctor every few days to have his blood checked to be sure his anti-clotting levels are good.

As I write this entry, it is now a couple of weeks into October. Dave was discharged on October 6, and he feels great. He is taking care not to overdo.

We both know how dangerous this condition was and that he could have had permanent physical impairment or even death from this condition. We are grateful to God that Dave's mission here on earth is not yet over and that he evaded either outcome.
