Project Day 30 - Sheathing the Roof

Today we arrived at our usual time, nearly 10 AM. Dave boogies up the hill to check the status. I am still worn out from yesterday, so my ascent is a bit slower.

Today, Bobby joined the crew. He is a regular, but he has not been on the job because, sadly, his father has been ill and passed away. He's a hard worker as well.

Here's Bobby on the right-hand side of the garage roof.

After we settled in to view the activity from our Observation Station, we realized that the water company had been here earlier this morning. We have markers where the water line exists, and we have a water meter!

Our tummies began to flip-flop as we watched the crew doing high-wire acts without a tether or net. It was quite unnerving for us to watch, but at the same time, we are in awe of their skills and fearlessness in putting down the roof sheathing (what most of us might call plywood is actually Oriented Strand Board [OSB]).

The first row of sheathing goes down on the front of the house.

Check out Chris' unique way of aligning the OSB. (That's Bobby in the foreground.)

The delicate balancing continues as the OSB goes down.

More progress on the garage roof with more death-defying activity.

Today was exceedingly hot for us, especially after feeling so sick from the heat yesterday. So, we headed out before the work crew was done for the day. Here's our final picture for today.

Tomorrow is supposed to be cooler with a 60% chance of rain. So, we are not sure how much rain we may get or when it may start. We plan to arrive at our usual time and pray for good weather.
